Seymour Johnson Air Show Salutes NC’s “Unwavering Support” April 16-17Goldsboro, N.C…. Commanders of Seymour Johnson AFB expressed appreciation to North Carolina for ‘unwavering support’ as Colonels Patrick Doherty and Shawn Pederson extended invitations to attend an extraordinary Air Show, Wings Over Wayne County, April 16-17. This rare assembly of aerial and ground attractions includes the Air Force Thunderbirds, Seymour Johnson’s F15-E Strike Eagle Team, the US ARMY Golden Knights Parachute Team, the F-22 Raptor, Tora Tora Tora WWII reenactment, the MIG 17, F-4, A-10, P-51, and many more technological marvels for a fascinating weekend of family exploration and fun. Witness a combined arms demonstration, complete with an amazing synchronized pyrotechnic display, involving air and ground forces from each service in a combat search and rescue scenario that typifies joint interoperability air support missions our troops face every day during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan. Music superstars Aaron Tippin (Saturday) and Tracy Lawrence (Sunday) will perform in concert at 5PM. Guest appearances include former American Idol contestant Victoria Huggins of Lumberton (singing the national anthem) and photographs/autographs available with Miss North Carolina, Adrienne Core. The Garage Boys Band of Las Vegas, and the North Carolina Revelers will perform each day. Military Working Dogs will exhibit their skills, the Orange County Choppers will arrive in style, and the Air Force Rifle Team from Washington, DC will awe you with their precision and professionalism as they spin and throw 20 pound rifles through the air! The largest hangar on the ramp will be dedicated to our fledgling aviators with an elaborate and entertaining kid-zone. Activities will span the entire interior complete with huge jumping castles, bungee jumping, trampolines, flight simulators, rock climbing walls, and Euro Ball races. Gates are open at 8AM and close at 6:30PM each day. Admission and parking are free. Seymour Johnson asks you consider helping restock the Salvation Army Food pantry by bringing canned good donations. A collection point will be at the entrance. Over the weekend, dreams will come true for children in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
